Title

The effect of water on seed germination

Problem Scenario

I did this project because some people would like to know some things like this it could be useful for Gardeners because they might not know how much water it takes for seeds to grow not all people know this i didn't know this at first i had to figure it out by doing the project.

Broad Question

How much water does it take for the seed to grow?

Specific Question

Can you used different liquids to sprout the seed?

Hypothesis

I think that it take 2 ml. of water to sprout the seeds

Variables

Independent Variable: Water

Dependent Variable: Number of seeds sprouting

Variables That Need To Be Controlled: The water and the seeds are the variables that need to be controlled.

Vocabulary List That Needs Explanation

General Plan

My general plan was to place ten seeds on a paper towel and then put two ml. of water on the paper towel then put plastic wrap over the paper towel to block all air out and then put it in a drawer so it has no light.

Potential Problems And Solutions

You could put too much water or not enough water and the plants will die.

Safety Or Environmental Concerns

Experimental Design

(add the correct headings from the experimental design page before beginning)

Resources and Budget Table

Background Research

You can not use different liquid's to sprout seeds. You have to use water and only water.

Detailed Procedure

First you get out your materials which are: Paper towels, Water, Plastic wrap, and seeds. Then you lay down a paper towel then put ten seeds on the paper towel spread equally apart. then put 2 ml or 20 ml of water then put plastic wrap covering the whole thing then place it in a drawer so it is completely dark.

Data Analysis

It took two milliliters of water to sprout two seeds and it took twenty milliliters in three days to sprout all ten seeds.

Abstract

I did this because my science teacher told me that this would be a good experiment so that is why I chose to do this project. How I did it was by putting a paper towel down with ten seeds on it then I put 2 ml or 20 ml of water then I put plastic wrap over it then I put it in a drawer in my science room. I found out that it only takes 2 ml of water to sprout ten seeds.
